About the role

We are looking for a proactive Buyer to join our small procurement team at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, Tewkesbury. Reporting to the Strategic Buyer, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing facility by placing, processing and expediting purchase orders across a range of materials and services.

This is a hands-on role with real variety — ideal for someone who enjoys building strong supplier relationships, keeping things moving at pace, and improving how purchasing is done day-to-day.

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday - 8am - 4:30pm

Friday - 8am - 1pm

Key responsibilities

As our Buyer, you will:

Place, process and expedite purchase orders to support production continuity and site operations.
Support key departmental KPIs including on-time delivery, cost control, and quality standards.
Work closely with the Strategic Buyer on day-to-day procurement priorities and problem-solving.
Maintain accurate supplier and vendor records, ensuring data is up to date and reliable.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including supplier visits and performance (KPI) feedback.
Support formal RFQs and contribute to cost saving and continuous improvement initiatives.
Run routine RFQs to support budget targets and ongoing cost control.
Negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value across price, lead time, and delivery performance.
Ensure suppliers comply with the Trelleborg Code of Conduct and sustainability expectations.

Skills & behaviours

Strong numerical and analytical skills — confident working with data, spotting trends and reporting.
Solid IT capability (especially Excel and Word) and familiarity with MRP / purchasing systems.
Confident, positive communicator who can work effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities in a busy manufacturing environment.

Experience

Procurement and/or administration experience (ideally within a manufacturing setting).
CIPS Level 3 (or equivalent) achieved, or working towards.

The Global Manager Technical Sourcing is responsible for leading and shaping the third‑party supplier (3PS) product and materials portfolio in close alignment with Product Line Development (PLD) strategies. The role provides leadership to a global technical sourcing team and ensures consistent execution of the technical sourcing agenda across all regions.

In addition, this position acts as a key technical expert within Purchasing, driving cross‑functional initiatives with strong technical content such as Make‑or‑Buy decisions, portfolio governance, innovation scouting, and technical readiness for product launches at third‑party suppliers.

What you'll be doing:

Lead and develop a global team of Technical Sourcing Leads within Global Purchasing
Drive global alignment of the 3PS product and materials portfolio in close collaboration with PLDs, segment teams, and regional purchasing organizations
Define, develop, and govern the 3PS portfolio strategy, including portfolio rationalization and Make‑or‑Buy recommendations
Ensure consistent rollout of portfolio strategy across regions in alignment with PLDs and Category Purchasing
Conduct technical benchmarks, supplier capability assessments, and sourcing evaluations across materials, tooling, and manufacturability
Identify and develop new sourcing options and innovation opportunities together with PLDs, R&D, and suppliers
Lead and coordinate cross‑functional projects with strong technical scope (e.g. material initiatives, portfolio rationalization, supplier development programs)
Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for supplier‑related issues
Act as a key interface between Purchasing, PLDs, R&D, Quality, Sales, and external suppliers
Support resolution of technical quality issues and drive continuous improvement across the supplier portfolio

What you'll bring:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or Business with strong technical exposure
Proven experience in technical sourcing, supplier development, and leading cross‑functional projects in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Strong expertise in portfolio strategy, technical benchmarking, and Make‑or‑Buy frameworks, with the ability to translate technical requirements into sourcing and purchasing decisions
Experience leading teams and/or coordinating cross‑regional and global stakeholders
Strategic and structured mindset, able to connect long‑term vision with concrete actions and execution
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across PLDs, R&D, Sales, Quality, and suppliers
Solid understanding of Purchasing processes and supplier management
High level of initiative, autonomy, resilience, and adaptability in a changing environment

Summary of the Role:

A Buyer is tasked with efficiently managing the procurement of designated categories of raw materials across TSS Renton, aiming to achieve optimal cost and quality outcomes. The Buyer is also responsible for upholding compliance with all purchasing related regulations and principles of the quality management system while actively participating in the establishment and upkeep of these systems.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Participation in Supply Review

Efficiently manage the purchase order process, from creation to fulfillment, ensuring timely delivery of raw materials to meet production needs.

Ensure the purchased raw materials meet quality standards and collaborate with suppliers to address any quality issues promptly.

Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, terms, and conditions.

Monitor and optimize inventory levels, ensuring that stock levels align with production schedules and customer demand while minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.

Adhere to all relevant regulations and standards governing the procurement of raw materials, ensuring compliance with legal and industry requirements.

Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, monitoring performance, and addressing any issues or discrepancies.

Identify and assess risks with the supply chain, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate disruptions such as supply shortages or transportation delays.

Promote and adhere to ethical sourcing practices, considering sustainability, social responsibility, and environmental impact in procurement decisions.
Utilize analytical tools and software to analyze and interpret data related to inventory levels, procurement, production, and distribution.

Review and manage change requests from Production

Set-up and maintain system parameters to run the system as automatic as possible and to achieve good results.

Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless communication and alignment with overall business goals, escalations, etc.

Support transfer projects.

Ensure smooth phase-in of New Product Introduction (NPI) and product transfers in collaboration between Sales and Manufacturing.

Actively participate in and contribute to continuous improvement efforts, suggesting and implementing enhancements to planning processes and workflows.

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions is looking for a Strategic Buyer to join our team at our Weobley site. This role is central to ensuring the efficient, timely supply of materials that support our business operations. As part of a small and dynamic procurement team, you will help drive cost reduction initiatives and support growth across the site.

This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional looking to influence supplier strategy, lead negotiations, and contribute to long‑term business improvement.

Work Pattern:

40 hours per week
8.00am – 5.00pm Monday – Thursday
6.00am – 12.30pm OR 8.00am – 2.30pm Friday

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong negotiation and contract‑management capabilities, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. They will be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, able to convey technical and business information clearly and confidently. Highly self‑motivated and capable of working independently when required, they should also be well‑organised, adept at managing time, and able to meet deadlines consistently. Strong leadership qualities and the ability to influence stakeholders are essential, alongside advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills. Solid IT competence is also required, including good proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to work comfortably with ERP systems.

Responsibilities :

Raising of orders for key suppliers and ensuring the daily running of the procurement department.
Management of a small team.

Leading supplier sourcing, assessment and negotiation to secure competitive commercial agreements.

Engage and communicate with internal stakeholders.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement within a Manufacturing environment
CIP’s qualified level 5.
Experience with ‘lifed’ products
MRP experience ideally with SAP
