Engineering Manager

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Assign all work to the engineering department. Coordinate with Sales to meet deadlines. Assign and authorize overtime as needed to meet organizational goals.
• Check and approve or assign the checking and approval of all engineering documentation.
• Design and/or coordinate and supervise the engineering documentation preparation for all new products.
• Discuss and coordinate design concepts with sales, technical, and manufacturing staff.
• Supervise and approve all changes to controlled books and electronic documentation in the Engineering department (ie: SOP’s).
• Furnish necessary estimations for customer RFQs, including; labor, material and tooling costs.
• Determine budget, staffing levels, training and equipment purchases for the Engineering Department.
• Supervise employees by communicating job expectations, monitoring and appraising job performance, counsel and discipline, enforce policies, procedures and standards and as necessary monitor time and attendance.
• Act as a training resource when needed for production, quality, and sales.
• Work with other team members and management to accomplish corporate quality goals of: on time delivery, turnaround time, profitability and returns.

Education and Experience:

Required:

• Education: Bachelor's in engineering (Master’s preferred)
• Experience: 5+ years supervisory and 10+ relevant work experience

Competencies:

• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Excellent math skills to include decimals, fractions, and geometry
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Good computer knowledge
• Detail oriented
• Ability to read and understand prints and specifications
• Drafting with 3D modeling programs, eg. Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks.
• Elastomer Technology - Two or more years background or experience in processing design and familiarity with elastomer nomenclature.

Travel:

• Minimal travel as required (10%)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in a production environment. The employee is regularly exposed to a hot manufacturing environment and near moving mechanical parts. The mandatory use of personal protective equipment (ear plugs, safety glasses, safety toe shoes) is required in designated areas.

Employee may have to respond to issues at any time and must be able to work extended hours.

Pay range and compensation package:

$100,000 - $115,000 depending on experience
