The Automation and Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing automated manufacturing processes across the site. This role leads automation projects, supports new product introductions requiring automation, and improves existing manufacturing systems through robotics, PLCs, machine integration, vision systems, and digital manufacturing technologies. The position works closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance while supporting TSS Denver's Vision, Mission, and Values.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Design, implement and optimize automated manufacturing systems.
Identify opportunities to eliminate manual operations through robotics, vision systems, automated handling and machine integration.
Work with equipment suppliers and integrators on automation projects.
Support maintenance and troubleshooting of PLC’s, HMI, Servo and motion control systems as required.
Support transition of the site to digital manufacturing and machine connectivity
Manage automation projects from concept to implementation using project management principles.
Train operators and technicians on automated equipment.
Develop work instructions, troubleshooting guides and maintenance documentation.
Provide ongoing technical support to production operations.
Selects new manufacturing processes and introduce new equipment into existing manufacturing processes.
Provides technical assistance in the implementation of new manufacturing technologies.
Follows existing documentation practices and continuously looks for improvements.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and automation related issues.
Develop business cases and ROI analysis for automation and capital projects.
Operates under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment.
Demonstrates understanding, support and consistent application of our Vision, Mission and Core Values.
Analyze manufacturing processes, cycle times, downtime, scrap, and labor utilization to identify and implement automation and process improvement opportunities.
Develop equipment specifications, obtain vendor quotations, manage equipment procurement, installation, validation, and production startup.

Education and Experience

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to utilize data for process improvement and decision making.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, process control, and follow-through.
Working knowledge of manufacturing materials, material flows, inventory control, and production requirements.
Ability to lead and promote continuous improvement initiatives while achieving operational objectives.
Proven ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver results on schedule.
Ability to analyze production data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, waste reduction, and process optimization principles.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Ability to prepare capital expenditure requests, develop project justifications, and present ROI analyses to management.

This position is located in a manufacturing facility which requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, squatting, twisting, and bending. This position requires approximately 50% of time spent on the production floor and 50% in a general office environment. Requires lifting up to 50 lbs.

Salary Range: $95,000-120,000 based on experience.
